Herbert Pfnür was the face of the Volunteer Fire Brigade in Poing for many years.
Now the former chairman has died at the age of 82.
Poing - It must have been thousands of hours that Herbert Pfnür spent on a voluntary basis for the Poing volunteer fire brigade.
Both as an active member and on the board of the fire brigade association.
In 1973 Pfnür became a member, he was a group leader, secretary on the board from 1994 to 2001, and chairman of FFW Poing from 2001 to 2013.
Now he has died at the age of 82.
Honorary member and citizen's medal
Herbert Pfnür was made an honorary member in February 2019 for his work and services; a few weeks earlier he received the Poingen Citizens' Medal.
In doing so, the community honors four people every year for their voluntary work.
During his time on the board, Herbert Pfnür was jointly responsible for numerous social events that have become tradition and have become an integral part of life in the Poing community.
For example the South Tyrolean evening, the family carnival and duck feeding during the Christmas season.
Because of the corona pandemic, none of this was possible last year, as was the 150th anniversary of the volunteer fire brigade, which should have taken place in autumn 2020.
"I always see the fire brigade as a whole," he always said, meaning that both the work of the emergency services and the club life are important and make a fire brigade. After 19 years on the board, he resigned his position and paved the way for a rejuvenation. Rainer Kinshofer has been chairman of the Poing fire brigade since 2013.
