The president of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro,
will be transferred from Brasilia to São Paulo
to evaluate whether he should undergo "emergency" surgery for an "intestinal obstruction," official sources reported this Wednesday.
Bolsonaro was admitted at dawn to the Hospital of the Armed Forces of Brasilia
with abdominal pain
and after having suffered repeated hiccups in recent days.
As reported by the Minister of Communications, Fabio Faria, the president will now be transferred to a hospital in São Paulo,
where it will be evaluated whether he will undergo a new abdominal operation.
The Presidency had initially reported that Bolsonaro would undergo examinations in Brasilia and would remain in "
observation for 24 to 48 hours
, not necessarily inside the hospital."
However,
later the intestinal obstruction
and the possibility of a new operation were found, which Minister Faria said would be a consequence of the attack he suffered in 2018, in the middle of the electoral campaign that brought him to power, when he was stabbed in the abdomen For someone.
The symptoms
Since Thursday of last week, when he made his usual live program through social networks, Bolsonaro
showed the hiccups
that afflicted him and in his subsequent public interventions he continued with the symptoms.
In September of last year, the 66-year-old president underwent surgery in São Paulo
to remove a kidney stone.
In the last three years, he
has undergone five operations
, four of them as a result of the attack he suffered in 2018.
Bolsonaro was stabbed while being carried on the shoulders of a crowd at an electoral rally held in the town of Juiz de Fora, in the state of Minas Gerais.
The aggressor was arrested immediately after the attack,
but was declared unimpeachable
, as the judge considered that he was not able to answer for his actions due to his mental problems.
Last July, the far-right leader, one of the most skeptical rulers about the severity of the new coronavirus, tested positive for covid-19 and spent twenty days isolated in the Palacio de la Alvorada, his official residence in Brasilia,
until he overcame the disease
.
