A retired Colombian special forces soldier, who was contacted to travel to Haiti but stayed because of the coronavirus, indicated that the group of 26 Colombians - now accused of participating in the assassination of Haitian President Jovenel Moïse - was hired initially to protect the agent.
"They only talked about a North American company and a security job in Haiti that was for the security of the president, that's what they named," he said.
