Damascus, SANA- The construction works of the emergency complex attached to the Mouwasat Hospital are continuing at a good pace, which has reached a completion rate

The construction of the emergency complex attached to the Mouwasat Hospital continues at a good pace, with a completion rate of 70 percent, which is expected to be completed within a year at most, according to the stakeholders from the General Company for Engineering Studies supervising the implementation.

SANA’s camera monitored the reality of the work in the construction project of the complex, where the head of the supervisory body, Engineer Muhannad Muhammad, explained that the building consists of 11 floors, including an emergency cellar, which includes (laboratories, emergency rooms, operations, cardiac care, and isolation) and has a private entrance and the second is designed for hospital services and as a shelter.

The ground and first floors were prepared and built for administrative and educational work, as they contain terraces for this purpose. There is a technical floor that includes equipment for air-conditioning, refrigeration and warehouses, while the second and third floors include operating and intensive care rooms.

The floors (fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh) were designed for accommodation rooms, a family section, and a section for doctors' rooms and laboratories. There is also a bridge linking the complex to the old Mouwasat Hospital building, in addition to containing a special airstrip for emergency cases and with elevators that connect it to the central ambulance.

According to Muhammad, the owner of the complex is the General Authority of Al-Mowasat Hospital, while the executing authority of the project is the Military Construction Corporation, the Damascus Countryside Branch, and the body supervising the work, the General Company for Engineering Studies - Supervision Directorate. Consultations before and during work so that any violation or executive error can be immediately rectified and addressed.

On the other hand, the complex is equipped with a station for medical gases (nitrous and oxygen) and a fire extinguishing network that operates according to two types (spray sprayers and a water network), where each floor is provided with two nozzles for extinguishing.

Engineer Muhammad Al-Hajj from the Follow-up Committee at Al-Mowasat Hospital said in a statement to SANA that the complex is an integrated and distinctive emergency project, the first of its kind in the Middle East, as he put it, indicating that its capacity to receive emergency cases is expected to reach between 1500 and 2000 cases per day, while its capacity is 173. It has 144 beds for residency and 29 for intensive care (internal and surgery), and the educational amphitheater can accommodate 500 chairs. A technological study is currently being prepared for the project to be provided with the necessary medical equipment and hotel furniture.

On the mechanism of supplying water to the hospital and ensuring its permanent availability, the assistant engineer, Jamil Mustafa, explained that the feeding process takes place in two ways, either from Fijeh water or through a well designated for the hospital, where the water is pumped, purified and desalinated.

As for the electricity, the engineer, Elham Dour, an electrician, explained that the building is equipped with an electrical panel (MDV) that supplies it with electricity through a modern system developed from (Basbars), which is an alternative to cables. It consists of two sections that are extended vertically within the skylights, and they have panels and special sockets that feed the floor panels indicating To the benefits of this system in preventing energy loss, ease of implementation and maintenance, and for the workshops to extend the equipment of telephone exchange, alarm, cameras, computers and televisions.

In turn, the assistant engineer, Firas Al-Hallaq, talked about some of the materials that entered the external cladding of the complex, including (industrial and natural granite, cardboard, and Lucky Bond), which gives an aesthetic view to the external facade.
