Despite a spectacular acceleration of vaccination, the Delta variant continues to progress in the territory.

Nine clusters have been identified in the Somme, said the prefecture of the department in a press release published this Wednesday morning and relayed by France Bleu Picardie.

These epidemic foci were immediately taken care of by the Regional Health Agency, which does not specify the extent or the location of these clusters.

The authorities have announced that they are redoubling their vigilance in the face of a deterioration in the health situation in the Somme linked to the Delta variant.

Particularly high incidence rates were observed in two communes of the department: in Amiens, there are 75 cases per 100,000 inhabitants, and 105 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in Roye, in the south-east of the department.

These data appear beyond the emergency threshold, set at 50 cases per 100,000 inhabitants.

Wanting to avoid spreading this epidemic outbreak, wearing a mask outdoors is mandatory from this Wednesday in about fifteen municipalities in the department and until August 2.

This measure concerns in particular the cities of Amiens, Boismont, Cayeux-sur-Mer or even Favières, Noyelles-sur-Mer and Saint-Quentin.

Note however, the beaches are not affected by this measure.

Finally, the prefecture recalled that wearing a mask outdoors remains mandatory throughout the department until August 2 in places that concentrate a lot of people (open-air markets, queues, etc.).
