Frankfurt / Main - According to the organizer DER Touristik, the increasing corona numbers in Europe due to the delta variant are unsettling many travelers.
The infection process and the assessment of the pandemic situation in the travel countries have become more difficult to predict, said Ingo Burmester, head of the tour operator's Central Europe.
"That increases the guest's uncertainty."
The same applies to the upgrading of countries to risk areas or high incidence areas.
Take Spain for example: "If you disregard the formal classification as a risk area, there is actually no change in the travel conditions from the guest's point of view," says Burmester.
A test, proof of vaccination or proof of recovery had to be presented beforehand for the return flight.
However, the classification and communication about it creates a certain amount of uncertainty.

DER Touristik is therefore observing a stronger trend in other holiday countries, such as Greece.
Demand there is currently growing faster than in Spain.
Most recently, Spain had just under 200 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within seven days, according to the Ministry of Health.
This threatens a further upgrade to a high incidence area.
Those who are not fully vaccinated or have recovered would have to be in quarantine for at least five days after returning to Germany.
"Should this really happen, we will actively offer our guests the opportunity to rethink their travel plans," said Burmester.
The guests would then be informed and free cancellation and rebooking options would be offered.
"My hope and expectation, however, is that the incidences will decrease again through the consistent implementation of the hygiene regulations in Spain."
Little Cyprus has only just been classified as a high incidence area. For holidaymakers who are traveling with DER Touristik, this means: Free rebooking and cancellations are possible, in this case until July 31st.
