In the past few days, there have been a total of seven new infections with the corona virus in the Starnberg adult education center.

After five reports on Monday, the district office reported on Tuesday of two more cases in connection with the VHS.

Starnberg - VHS director Christine Loibl said at the request of

Starnberger Merkur

that the corona infections had occurred in participants of two French courses.

The lecturer is also affected.

But she cannot yet explain the development, said Loibl.

One course is attended by six participants, the other by seven.

The content is always "conversation at a high level", as the VHS director explained.

After the courses, like most of the other adult education programs, had only taken place online for months, the participants and lecturer met again in person in the building on Bahnhofplatz since May 4th - and that "in an extra large room", as Loibl emphasized.

Positive corona cases at the VHS Starnberg: The group was "particularly careful"

According to the hygiene concept, the room is approved for a maximum of 14 people, i.e. twice as many as the individual course participants.

Because several older people also took part in the two French courses, the group was "particularly careful", explained Loibl.

A distance of 1.50 meters is required in the rooms, an FFP2 mask must be worn in the corridors and up to the square.

In addition, the rooms are disinfected after each course, Loibl describes the hygiene concept, which is "very detailed and differentiated" and agreed with the authorities.

After the first positive case occurred, both groups were immediately sent to quarantine at home.

As of Tuesday, she had no knowledge of how the participants got infected.

“We even had the information that most of them were vaccinated,” said Loibl.

The courses always met on Tuesdays, the first from 9 a.m. to 10.30 a.m., the second from 10.30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Yesterday, Tuesday, would have been the last day of the course before the summer vacation.

It no longer took place.

16 cases of the delta variant in the district

In total, the district office reported three new cases in the district yesterday, in addition to the two in connection with the VHS, another one. The cases were split between Feldafing (1) and Tutzing (2). The fact that the delta variant of the virus played a role is likely, but not yet confirmed. Regardless of the current cases, the mutant has now been detected 16 times in the district. On Monday there were 14 delta cases. According to the official information from the Robert Koch Institute (RKI), the seven-day incidence has fallen to 15.4 and thus to the value of Sunday.

A total of 71 infected people and close contacts are currently in quarantine at home in the district.

The number of people vaccinated rose to 84,531 yesterday.

65,023 of them now have full vaccination protection, so they have already received their second injection or the vaccine from Johnson & Johnson.
