A former police station commander has been arrested on suspicion of protection crimes in the north
The officer is suspected of having acted to collect sponsorship fees from business owners, as well as to cause damage to property, including engineering equipment.
He had previously been forced to resign from his position as station manager due to an indictment filed against him on charges of having a forbidden relationship with a policewoman who was under his command.
Four suspects have so far been arrested as part of the investigation

The director of a security company, who was once the commander of a police station, was arrested today (Wednesday) on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a crime.
He is suspected of working to collect sponsorship fees from business owners, as well as causing damage to property, including engineering equipment.
Four suspects have so far been arrested as part of the investigation.
This is not the first case in which the name of the criminal suspect has been linked.
An indictment has previously been filed against the station commander for conducting a prohibited relationship with a young policewoman who was under his command.
Due to the affair, the officer eventually left his post.

The Israel Police stated that "the Israel Police is fighting the phenomenon of collecting sponsorship fees in the north with all the tools at its disposal. Meanwhile, the police are conducting investigative actions against suspects and organizations, as well as joint activities with local security and prevention of agricultural crime."
