The World Health Organization has warned that the mutated strain of the Corona virus, which was called “Lampda” and appeared on the 14th of last June in Latin America, is the most contagious and more deadly than the Delta mutant.

"The available evidence so far about this mutation indicates its high risk, especially in terms of its rapid transmission and ability to resist immunity arising from vaccines," said Carissa Etienne, Director of the WHO's Regional Office in Latin America, noting that it now constitutes 70 percent of infections in the world. Both Chile and Argentina in recent weeks.

Etienne added: "We still do not have enough data to determine the extent of the seriousness of this mutation and its final specifications, but the scientific indicators that have been gathered so far by experts do not give rise to optimism."

The latest reports indicate that this mutated strain is currently spreading in 29 countries and a high rate in South American countries, while experts report that the lambda mutant has the ability to resist the Chinese Coronavac vaccine in up to 64 percent of cases, and a study conducted by experts from New York University showed that this mutant is resistant to the virus. Pfizer and Moderna vaccines have a rate of up to 22 percent for some cases.
