The CSU regional group goes into retreat in Seeon.

The star guest is Armin Laschet - and a dispute could threaten.

Is it all just a question of "understanding"?

Seeon - The CSU * is getting into position for the federal election: The CSU regional group will meet on Wednesday and Thursday (14/15 July) for their summer retreat in the Seeon monastery north of the Chiemsee.

"Star guest" on Thursday is Chancellor candidate Armin Laschet *.

At the meeting there could be a need for more discussion: CSU boss Markus Söder has only just distanced himself from the candidate for chancellor in tax policy.

In the ARD summer interview, Laschet initially declared tax cuts to be hardly feasible.

"The election program applies to both parties," Söder now clarified.

The economy can also be supported “only through tax cuts”.

The Bavarian Prime Minister will deliver a keynote address at the start of the exam - as will the regional group leader Alexander Dobrindt.

But the first content-related plans have already leaked.

CSU retreat in Seeon: Laschet meets Söder and Co. - Dobrindt explains climate plans

The Bundestag Christian Socials want to create relief for the German carbon footprint - through new calculation methods: The CSU wants to credit the Federal Republic of Germany's climate protection aid to developing countries in the German climate footprint. "In future, international successes in climate protection must also be taken into account in national climate balances," quoted the

Augsburger Allgemeine

from a draft resolution for the retreat: "Every ton of CO2 saved counts - regardless of where it is saved."

Dobrindt told the newspaper that climate protection is "one of the mega-challenges of our time that we can only master internationally together".

The CSU therefore wants to give global climate protection a “new boost” and motivate industrialized countries to take climate protection measures in developing countries more than before.

"There mustn't be any double credits," he clarified.

Corresponding CO2 savings could either be credited to the international producing country or the local state in the climate balance.

On Wednesday, the EU Commission will also present its further climate plans.

Söder and Laschet in Seeon: Unity before the federal election or new Zoff?

At the two-day meeting, a position paper is to be drawn up that will be incorporated into the CSU election program. In it, the party wants to demand, among other things, a doubling of the employee savings allowance and relief for single parents. It remains to be seen to what extent the relief course will run counter to another main goal for Seeon: After the sometimes fierce struggle for the candidacy for chancellor, demonstrate unity between CSU and CSU - and of course between the two top dogs Söder and Laschet before the federal election *.

Shortly after his tax statements, which were understood as a confrontation, Söder presented a very diplomatic way out: “The election program was a joint decision.

Laschet just understood it differently, "said the CSU boss on ZDF.

His CDU counterpart wanted to point out the financial feasibility with his comment.

The new boss of the pharmaceutical company Merck, Belén Garijo, is expected in Seeon on Wednesday afternoon.

In conversation with her, the main focus will be on how more production of drugs or vaccines can be established in Germany and the EU in the future.

Because of the corona pandemic, the event will take place partly in person and partly via video conference.
