A press conference on the state of the corona, attended by Prime Minister Bennett and Health Minister Horowitz

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz held a press conference today (Wednesday) regarding the growing rate of infection with the corona virus in Israel.

The meeting will also be attended by the Director General of the Ministry of Health, Prof. Nachman Ash, and the Head of Public Health Services, Dr. Sharon Elrai Price.

Bennett said that "there was disgraceful complacency that we inherited from our predecessor at Ben Gurion Airport, but we blocked the breach of flights to the red countries.

It is easiest to decide on a closure - but there must be a routine of life and economy alongside the virus.

"Bennett added that success in the war on the virus will only be if the public and the government work together." Everything will be done to reduce the damage to the routine of life.

There are only three actions we need to do: from this moment masks should be worn in enclosed spaces, the masks are effective protection - it works.

Anyone who does not do so endangers himself, his family, his business and the opening of school hours. "

Bennett added that police will handcuff civilians who do not wear masks in enclosed spaces.

"The second action is to get vaccinated. There are another 1.5 million Israelis who have not yet been vaccinated - want to get vaccinated. The third action is to keep a distance, especially at mass events."

At this point, Bennett advised Israelis not to fly abroad.

The numbers all over the world are rising. "He added that" one should check how one holds a wedding or a performance, especially at events of 100 people.

"We must take responsibility, it is likely that in the near future those who were not vaccinated, but could have been vaccinated, will have to present a negative test, otherwise they will not be able to enter."

To the full article

For the first time since May, more than 50 corona patients in critical condition are hospitalized. The number of patients in critical condition has increased by eight people, and now stands at 53. The number of respirators stands at 15 people, and the death toll from the outbreak remains at 6,440 people, after no one died in the past day.

According to the Ministry of Health, 754 people were diagnosed with corona in the past day. This is a slightly higher figure than the day before, when 730 people were diagnosed. The percentage of positive tests stands at 1.45%, compared to 1.26% yesterday.

The Corona Cabinet convened last night, and at the end of the meeting

approved the shortening of the isolation days to one week

. This, after the request of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on the subject. Earlier, the issue came up in a preliminary discussion for senior Ministry of Health officials in the presence of Bennett and Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz.

Despite the recommendation of the Ministry of Health, the Cabinet did not approve the return of the green mark.

It was decided that preparatory work would be held on the subject.

Minister Orit Farkash HaCohen, Yifat Shasha Bitton and Orna Barbibai, as well as Ministers Hemed Amer and Hili Trooper, opposed the renewal of the Green Badge, while Minister of Internal Security Amar Bar-Lev and Reference Minister Ayelet Shaked supported the return of the Green Badge.

The argument of the opposing group of ministers was that the return of the green mark would confuse the public and harm many businesses in the economy.

Prime Minister Bennett said at the meeting that he wanted to approve the return of the green mark but after hearing the ministers' references he changed his mind and thought it was possible to wait with the move and in the meantime finish the preparatory work of the Ministry of Health.
