Director of the Asia Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry Zamir Kabulov today expressed his country's concern about the possibility of the terrorist organization "ISIS" exploiting the chaos of the war in northern Afghanistan to strengthen its presence.
"We are concerned that the chaos of the war in northern Afghanistan can be exploited by the 3 to 4 thousand ISIS militants to enhance their activity in these areas," Kabulov said, noting that the attacks launched by the Taliban could exhaust this organization and prevent it from launching Attacks and sabotage operations against the countries of Central Asia.
Kabulov warned the Taliban against any attempt by it to harm the security of Russia's allies in Central Asia, explaining that such attempts would be fraught with great losses for them.
The security situation in Afghanistan is rapidly deteriorating with the withdrawal of US and NATO forces from this country two decades after its invasion under the pretext of fighting terrorism.
