Local councils of the SPD are calling for unity between the communities in the Tegernsee Valley - and citing common problems that they want to counteract.

Tegernseer Tal - “Quo vadis, Tegernseer Tal?” This is the motto under which the SPD municipal councilors from the valley and Wiessee's mayor Robert Kühn recently met to talk about urgent problems and questions from the valley communities.

“The municipalities have to see themselves as a unit even more than before, because the problems are almost the same in all valley municipalities,” said the coordinator of the group, Bernd Kuntze-Fechner from Bad Wiessee.

Urbanization and price developments in the Tegernsee Valley: people are losing their identity

According to a press release, the Social Democrats identified increasing urbanization and price developments in the valley as problem areas.

This goes hand in hand with the loss of the identity of the people and the uniqueness of the valley.

This process needs to be stopped.

In view of the building regulations in force, the municipalities are often "hands tied," stated the municipal councils.

They complained about the "excessive freedom of movement of the licensing authority district office, which decides questions of doubt to the advantage of the builder and thus to the detriment of the local design".

The development pressure is accelerated by the enormous price increases for land.

No scope for condominiums - valley has become the “plaything of investors”

For the majority of those who live and work here, this leaves little scope for their own property.

"The valley has become a plaything for investors who do not strive to keep the community solid, but only strive for profit from real estate transactions," complains the SPD.

It demands that the communities not let themselves be played off against each other, but rather pull together to preserve nature and the environment.

With a concerted, coordinated policy, the SPD wants to influence the process beyond municipal boundaries.

"We will start an open discourse with the citizens in the municipal councils to discuss suggestions and proposed solutions, but also critical arguments," said Johann Schmid from Gmund.

A Green City Council recently railed against the Tegernsee district: “First place in the charts of atrocities”.

By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our new, regular Tegernsee newsletter.
