After Delta and Beta, Lambda completes the cycle of viral terror and raises the alarm among WHO experts as the most ferocious of the Covid-19 mutant and the most contagious and deadliest of its predecessors.

The lambda mutated in its danger exceeded the delta variable in terms of its speed of spread and its ability to resist vaccine immunity. It is also more contagious and more deadly and causes more severe symptoms, as it constituted 70 percent of Corona virus infections in Chile and Argentina in the Latin American continent in recent weeks, according to a warning World Health Organization today.

Director of the WHO Regional Office in Latin America Carissa Etienne said in her statements that the available evidence so far about this mutation indicates its high risk, especially in terms of its rapid transmission and ability to resist immunity arising from vaccines, noting that the scientific indicators gathered so far among experts do not send on optimism.

Lambda was first discovered in Peru a few weeks ago and has become the dominant mutation in that country, which lost 195,000 people who died of Covid 19, or 0.6 percent of the total population, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University in the United States.

The new mutant is currently spreading in 29 countries and a high rate in South American countries, while health experts report that it has the ability to resist the Chinese Coronavac vaccine in up to 64 percent of cases, and it is resistant to the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines by up to 22 percent for some cases, according to a study conducted by experts from the University New York.

In a report published by the British newspaper The Times, preliminary studies showed that the antibodies generated by the Pfizer, Moderna and Coronavac vaccines were less powerful against Lambda compared to the original strain, noting that the new mutant possesses seven molecules in the barbed protein that helps it attach to and invade body cells and makes it difficult for our antibodies Attachment to and neutralization of the virus.

Microbiologist Pablo Tsukayama, who documented the appearance of the lambda mutant, pointed out that the information gap fuels concerns about this mutant, and that the limited ability of Latin America to monitor, investigate and research it raises concerns.

On the economic front, the lambda mutator has tightened the grip on the economic recovery that the global economy has witnessed during the recent period, as US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen expressed grave concern that the economic recovery in the United States and the world is being threatened by the Corona virus, which represents a threat to the entire world.

In turn, Germany and France warned their citizens a few days ago against traveling to Spain, with the high rate of infection with Corona virus mutants in it, becoming the highest in Europe, which dealt a severe blow to the tourism sector at the beginning of the summer season.

The United States of America leads the countries most affected by the Corona virus in the number of infections and deaths, followed by India and then Brazil.
