Damascus-SANA
Meteorologist Shadi Gawish told SANA that the beginning of next week will witness a successive and significant rise in temperatures, with a peak on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday exceeding 40 degrees Celsius in most of the interior regions for the first time this year.
Gawish explained that this rise is a result of the extension of a semi-tropical air rise in the upper atmosphere, followed by a gradual decrease in temperatures at the end of next week, with a weak possibility of light showers of rain over the coastal heights.
Gawish warned against direct exposure to sunlight during peak times from 12 noon until four in the afternoon, and setting fires, especially in forest and agricultural areas, due to the ease and speed of fires in the coming period.
Gawish pointed out that the winds will generally be westerly, with active gusts at times in the interior regions that raise dust in the eastern region and the Badia, and that the high humidity increases the feeling of heat and the sea is light to medium waves in most of the times.
With regard to the next two days between Gawish, the temperature will be higher than its average by about 2 to 4 degrees Celsius, and the atmosphere is generally clear and misty in the eastern regions, the island and the Badia.
