The 25-year-old student Anette Spahmann was elected chairwoman.

SPD councilor Andreas Kilian says goodbye.

Waakirchen

- For Hans Hartwich (75), that the future belongs to young people is not just a saying. Attracting young people who are politically active is a heartfelt wish for the long-time local chairman of the SPD Waakirchen. It was fulfilled by the new election at the annual general meeting: Annemarie Spahmann from Marienstein is now a 25-year-old student at the head of the local association. Hartwich supports her as vice-president, Johann Schätzl continues to take care of the finances as cashier.

As young as the new chairwoman is, the commitment to workers' rights is deeply rooted in her family.

Max Spahmann, the last surviving mining friend from Marienstein, is a brother of her grandfather.

When Annemarie Spahmann was born, the mine was long gone, but she doesn't want to be forgotten what the SPD fought and is fighting for.

The task is to save the SPD local association Waakirchen.

He still has around 20 members, and Hartwich jokes about the average age: “At 75, I'm still a Juso.” Winning young people to work in local politics and getting the local club going again is for the new one Chair a big goal.

Use for affordable living space

In terms of content, Spahmann wants to work primarily for affordable living space.

The communication science student still lives with her parents, but when she starts her job, she should also have her own apartment.

“I would like to stay here at the place.

But there is the big question of whether you can find something, ”says Spahmann, who is also one of the Juso spokesmen in the district.

Andreas Kilian moves to Ebersberg

Creating apartments for the average wage earner was also Andreas Kilian’s goal.

He was the SPD hope in Waakirchen in the 2020 local elections.

The sports salesman, who was 31 years old at the time, was a candidate for the mayor's office when he had just moved there.

He couldn't convince: with 2.7 percent - 88 votes - the result was sobering.

With Kilian as the top candidate, the Waakirchner SPD lost one of the two mandates up to that point.

As a local council, Kilian received 503 votes in 2020, exactly as many as Christine Mehl, who until then had a mandate that she was committed to.

With reference to her age - 71 years - Mehl waived a lottery decision and left the seat to the young candidate.

Little was reported in the local council

Kilian, the only SPD representative on the committee, then spoke up as a councilor, which was disappointing in the local association. There is also no more time to set the tone: Kilian moves back to his home town of Ebersberg and resigns from the local council. Incidentally, the reason for his move is rent. The Waakirchen apartment became too small for Kilian and his wife. "It was not possible to find a larger one at a reasonable price here," reports Kilian. But even as an Ebersberger he wanted to remain loyal to the Waakirchen SPD and support the new chairwoman. Overall, Kilian is satisfied with the result of his work. It was possible to make the election campaign “more modern”.

Kilian justifies the fact that he sat so quietly in the town council with a lack of experience: "I deliberately held back." It was his intention to first get to grips with the issues. The faction community with the ABV helped a lot. Now, according to Kilian, he has settled in - and after two and a half years in Waakirchen, unfortunately, he now has to move.
