Orange cap, oversized glasses in seventies style and a pint of his own brand of beer in hand: Sepp Bumsinger is ready.

Groebenzell - The fictional character is now very well known and garnered millions of clicks on the online video channel YouTube.

Now Bayern comedian Markus Langer is coming to the district for the first time: The 52-year-old from Moosach near Ebersberg appears at the Gröbenzeller Comedy Open Air.

In the Tagblatt interview, the married father of three boys talks about his career.

How did Sepp Bumsinger come about and when was the fictional character born?

That was six years ago when I made a spot for the Seitenbacher advertisement.

The Sepp hit like a bomb.

Now every child in Bavaria knows him.

To be honest, I never expected this kind of success at the time.

But art often goes unknown ways.

You are incredibly present on the social network Facebook and YouTube.

But on TV you make yourself rather rare.

Why is that?

The Bumsinger is apparently not conservative enough for the Bavarian television audience.

That makes it all the more fun on stage.

It is now almost a gift when you as an artist are no longer completely dependent on television.

The success of social media has put me on the real stage.

The viewership on the Internet confirms that.

In the Gaudi clips you play the main role, but a long-haired wig wearer named “Blasi” is always there as a cameraman and cue-maker.

Also in Groebenzell?

This is my sound engineer and congenial partner Florian Fink.

Of course he is there.

Our videos are usually created spontaneously within an hour and only after a brief preliminary discussion about the content.

What happens then is often pure coincidence and sometimes gets out of control.

But that's the joke.

And the ideas for this arise just as spontaneously and usually have their origin in everyday experiences.

You appeared in a number of TV series before your comedy career.

How did it all start?

When I was five years old, I was on stage for the first time with my father - a folk musician.

In secondary school I liked to play the class bully and had Gerhard Polt as a great role model.

After training as a banker, I founded an internet shop, played sketches in front of a small audience and had supporting roles in TV series such as "Rosenheim Cops", "Dahoam is Dahoam", "Der Bulle von Tölz" and "Der Alte".

Then in 2016 the Bumsinger Sepp was born and went through the roof.

But the bumsinger is only part of the “joker (s)” program.

What else can viewers expect?

It will be a Bavarian cabaret evening in dialect, completely without lederhosen, but with a lot of charm, sometimes hearty and coarse, sometimes also thoughtful.

Just great fun.

The interview was conducted by Peter Loder.

The performance

will take place next Monday, July 19, from 9 p.m. Information on www.stockwerk-sommer.de.
