He announced that,

"I am proud. We have 1.3 million doses of component 1 and

1.01 million of component 2,

" he added about the production achieved so far.

In turn, Alberto Fernández described the news as an "infinite advance".

"

The progress you have made is infinite

. We have taken a very important step," said the president.

"It was done by a

private company

, the State helped it in everything in its power. But the credit goes to the private company. And the truth in a sad day for having exceeded 100,000 deaths. The best tribute is to take care of those who are and the best thing is to make the vaccine in Argentina ", added the President.

Minister Vizzotti together with the directors of Laboratorios Richmond presented the first production of the Sputnik V vaccine in our country.

In addition, he said that Argentina "always distinguished itself by its scientists," but added that "there is always a need for the businessman to help channel the effort."

After thanking Figueiras again, he completed: "Argentina was in need of these vaccines. The pandemic will endure, it will take time to cope with it, but the vaccine gives us a lot of peace of mind and guarantees that if we get infected the pain will be less" .

How the vaccination works

The vaccines produced by Richmond are made with the antigen brought from Russia.

Formulation, filtering and packaging are made in our country.

The first batches of Sputnik V component 1 were made in two batches at the Richmond plant in Pilar: 448,625 doses (on June 18) and another 550,000 doses (on July 2).

From these consignments came the samples sent to the Gamaleya National Research Center for Epidemiology and Microbiology, of the Russian Federation, in search of its approval.

"Gamaleya promised to finish his final verifications as soon as possible, but they have many analyzes to do," Figueiras had said weeks ago.

And he remarked: "We have the

tranquility of having checked it

ourselves and that they gave everything well."

At the beginning of June, Figueiras himself assured that Richmond is in a position to produce

500 thousand doses

of the Russian vaccine

per week.

Until now, Argentina has received 31,255,730 doses, of which 11,868,830 correspond to Sputnik V, (9,375,670 for component 1 and 2,493,160 for component 2);

9,072,000 to Sinopharm;

580,000 to AstraZeneca-Covishield, 1,944,000 to AstraZeneca through the WHO COVAX mechanism.

There are also 7,790,900 doses of AstraZeneca and Oxford, whose active ingredient was produced locally, in Hugo Sigman's mAbxience laboratory, and whose packaging is carried out in Mexico and the United States.

After long delays, the finished product began arriving in Argentina on June 12.

In addition, agreements have already been reached for the CanSino vaccines (they would arrive in the coming weeks) and Moderna (they would arrive in 2022, although they could be advanced through donations).

26,134,815 doses have already been applied in the country: 20,985,921 people have a single application, while another 5,148,894 people completed the planned scheme.
