The joy of music and love for people motivated Anna-Maria Wolke to apply for an advertisement as a church choir director in Mammendorf almost three years ago.

Mammendorf / Maisach - At the end of July, the music teacher from Saxony-Anhalt is returning to her home in the Harz Mountains because of a new professional challenge for her husband.

But not only the choir of the Catholic Church now has to look for a new choir director: The Orlando-di-Lasso-Realschule in Maisach loses a popular music teacher.

“I'm torn,” says the married mother of a six-year-old daughter.

"On the one hand, I like it here very much, on the other hand, I'm looking forward to my old home, where my parents, friends and acquaintances live." He studied music and sport for high school teaching.

"Unfortunately, there is no such combination in Bavaria for this type of school," she says.

At the end of 2018, however, she ended up at the Maisacher Realschule.

Her hobby is church music: “Hymns are not dusty or even boring.

They make the service really lively. ”The choir performed in church services, at baptisms and weddings, but also at“ secular events ”.

Because she lives in Kottgeisering herself, but the 30 choir members are deeply rooted in Mammendorf, a certain distance has arisen, says Wolke, which had a positive effect: It was easier to introduce new things.

Cloud has grown particularly fond of the church youth choir she founded in 2019.

In March 2020, the offspring of the church choir was looking forward to their first divine service, but the appearance had to be canceled due to Corona.

After all, at least one small concert could take place later in the parish hall for the parents.

She would like the newly founded youth choir to be preserved.

Anna-Maria Wolke regrets that no meetings have been possible since March 2020: “A church choir lives from the community,” she says. You have to hear the neighbors singing next to you. It was difficult to implement online offers. But now there is hope again to be able to sing together. She wishes her choirs that things go well with a new leader.
