President Alberto Fernández received a letter from Pope Francis on Thursday, in which he

thanked

him

for the message of speedy recovery

that he sent after the Pontiff underwent colon surgery.

In the text, he called for

"abundance of blessings"

for Argentines, in the context of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Supreme Pontiff underwent surgery in a polyclinic in Rome, was discharged last Wednesday, and is already in full recovery.

In the letter, which reached the president through the Apostolic Nunciature of Buenos Aires, the Pope tells him that “

I have received the attentive message of speedy recovery

that, due to my hospitalization, you have had the courtesy to send me,

I thank you for this gesture and his kindness

”.

In addition, Francisco said: "I raise my prayers to the Lord Jesus so that, also in these difficult times due to the pandemic, he may

grant the beloved Argentine people an abundance of blessings

, so that they can advance along paths of justice, fraternity and progress."

The letter that Pope Francis sent to President Alberto Fernández thanking the message sent after the last intervention to which he was subjected.

This message comes a day after Argentina exceeded 100,000 deaths from the covid-19 health crisis.

In the Vatican, after 10 days of the operation

After ten days of hospitalization at the Gemelli polyclinic, where he was operated on on Sunday the 4th and part of his intestine was removed due to a serious infection, the Pope was discharged this Wednesday and left the hospital to return to the Vatican.

Before that, he went to the Basilica of Santa María la Mayor, as is his custom every time he travels or celebrates an important event, to pray for a few minutes before the statue of the Virgin Mary.

The basilica is located in front of the palace of the Argentine embassy before the Italian government.

Francisco, who occupied the position of co-pilot in front of the car, entered the Vatican through the Perugino door, which is the closest to the Casa de Santa Marta, the internal hotel where he is staying.

I thank all those who have been close to me with their prayers and affection during the days of hospitalization.

Let's not forget to pray for the sick and for those who care for them.

Before entering, at the door of the Perugino he got out of the car and greeted the Vatican Gendarmerie guards who were guarding him from the Catholic University hospital with a smile.

"I thank all those who have been close to me with their prayers and affection during the days of hospitalization. Let us not forget to pray for the sick and for those who care for them," said the Supreme Pontiff after discharge.

On Sunday 4, after praying the Angelus from the window of the pontifical study that he does not use like every Sunday, the Argentine Pope arrived at the Gemelli hospital in the afternoon accompanied by two people.

Inside there were already a part of the 25 members of the Gendarmerie who were in charge of guarding him during his hospitalization.

The doctors never issued a medical bulletin and the Vatican took it upon themselves to give the information in writing, without allowing dialogue with the Vaticanists.

On Sunday night, when the impression that "there are complications" began to spread, it was reported that he had been operated on for "a severe diverticular stenosis with signs of sclerosing diverticulitis."
