More than a thousand burglaries were committed last summer in the Hauts-de-Seine, or about 20% of those perpetrated in 2020. François Joennoz, Chief of Staff of the departmental police, discusses this phenomenon.
Do you see an increase in burglaries in the summer?

The numbers do not say it very clearly.
But it is obvious that homes are more exposed when they are empty.
In July and August 2020, we recorded 1225 burglaries of homes and businesses.
This represents 4.10% more than in 2019. In any case, for this early summer, the drop is significant.
In June, we had 27% fewer burglaries than in June 2020.
How to protect your home before going on vacation?
With common sense.
Do not leave your keys in the mailbox or under the doormat.
If you live in a pavilion, do not leave tools in the garden, let alone a ladder that would allow access to the balcony.
