The "Smart Helper" service was launched on March 5 this year. Initially, it is only applicable to visa applications for renewal of foreign domestic helpers submitted online, that is, renewing the contract with the same employer, completing the remaining period of the existing contract, or applying according to special arrangements for the epidemic For foreign domestic helpers to postpone their application for returning to their place of origin, after the application is approved, the applicant can choose to pay the visa fee in different ways and receive the visa by post. There is no need to go through the relevant procedures in person at the Immigration Office.
A spokesperson for the Immigration Department said that since the launch of "Smart Helper" to the end of June, there have been more than 21,500 visa applications for renewing foreign domestic helpers through "Smart Helper" to pay the visa fee and obtain visa labels.
The proportion of applying for renewal of foreign domestic helper visas online has increased from about 15% before the service launch to nearly 30% by the end of June, reflecting the positive response of the public to the new service. Therefore, it was decided to expand the "Smart" on July 20. The service scope of "Easy Helper" can be used regardless of whether the application is submitted online, by post or through the drop-in box. The foreign domestic helper or employer does not need to pay the visa fee or obtain the visa label at the immigration office.
