Hermann Dejako has received the highest award of the Alling community for “extraordinary services and his outstanding commitment” over several decades: the citizen's medal.

Alling - The local council had already decided on this in March 2020, and the medal was presented to him six months later. But only now could a celebration with guests and family take place. Many came: Vice-Mayor Hans Friedl, Third Mayor Florian Naßl, members of the council, the former mayors Frederik Röder and Eberhard Boerboom and other community medalists. In his laudation - interrupted by applause for the honoree - Mayor Stefan Joachimsthaler reviewed Hermann Dejako's life and work. The now 75-year-old grew up on the Achensee. His professional career initially took him to Munich, in 1969 he moved to Alling with his family. He worked for the Zelenka company in Gilching for 40 years, including about 30 years as managing director. He sat on the municipal council on an honorary basis for decades, since 1984. Joachimsthaler said of the honored's commitment to the committee: "Your work was characterized by expertise, an overview and future prospects."

In addition, Dejako was a “doer” for youth work: He co-founded free youth work in Alling as early as the 1970s.

Leisure activities and meeting places for young people were brought into being with his support.

Dejako was also the chairman of the district youth council.

The youth officer Dekajo then became finance officer in the municipal council in 1990.

Joachimsthaler thanked him for having brought in a lot of specialist knowledge.

Later, the human resources department was added.

Dejako always had the necessary distance "to look at issues objectively and to come to amicable solutions".

In 2020 a new office: The honored one became chairman of the senior citizens' council.

And this office will remain Dejako, said the mayor: "So we will continue to have you as a valued advisor by our side."

Joachimsthaler listed further milestones: Dejako's work in helping to shape the industrial area, his support for the community partnership with Lannach and his commitment to the TSV board. And in Gilching, the Allinger had long been chairman of the trade association. All of this brought awards: in 2006 the district's municipal certificate of thanks, in 2016 the municipal medal of merit in bronze.

In conclusion, Joachimsthaler praised: “Your work has left a big mark on our community.” Dejako replied modestly: “Don't follow in my footsteps, create your own new footsteps.” The award with the citizen medal fills him “with pride and gratitude”. In his words of thanks, he focused on those who, in his opinion, deserved special thanks: all those who worked under difficult conditions during the pandemic, were there for others or continued their voluntary work. He remembered the past decades with a few anecdotes. In earlier decades one could “argue excellently politically” with many fellow councilors - but for him it was always about arguing for one cause and never against anyone.
