Between July 14 and the Tour de France, the Arc de triomphe begins its packaging

The project of the Bulgarian artist Christo, who died in 2020, consists of covering the 25,000 square meter monument with silver fabric with blue reflections.


25,000 square meters of bluish silver fabric and 3000 meters of red rope to wrap the Arc de Triomphe.

The inauguration is scheduled for September and the monument will thus be transformed, in accordance with Christo's very specific wishes, until October 3 on the Place de l'Etoile, the National Monuments Center announced on Friday.

The materials used (polypropylene fabric and cord) are recyclable.

The project, carried out in particular by the Charpentiers de Paris, is financed by the Vladimir Javacheff foundation, thanks to the sale of works by Christo: collages, preparatory drawings, models, lithographs.
