A 20-year-old stood before the youth lay judge's court because of black driving.

Four trips on the S-Bahn without a ticket could have brought him to prison.

Because in his education register there were already five entries and one open probation.

But the young man breathed a sigh of relief at the end of the negotiation: He only has to pay a premium of 550 euros.

Three years ago, the 20-year-old was sentenced to a youth sentence of 18 months on probation for drug trafficking and possession, dangerous bodily harm, coercion and insult.

Another suspended sentence followed in 2019: for dangerous bodily harm and threat of complicity.

The sentence increased to 24 months, suspended for four years.

At that time, the juvenile judge said it was his last chance.

Difficult childhood

Well, in the current hearing, the public prosecutor admitted with a view to the accused: “He has matured.” She added a monetary requirement of 700 euros. The man's lawyer pleaded like the juvenile court assistance for 500 euros and said her mandate was "on the right track". They agreed on 550 euros.

The young man had a difficult childhood.

His father is unknown, the mother was a drug addict.

Because of neglect, he was placed in a foster family.

He still feels at home there today.

But even there he had to cope with a stroke of fate: his foster father died a few years ago.

As a result, the now 20-year-old took drugs and committed crimes.

Nevertheless, he passed the secondary school leaving certificate and found an apprenticeship as a fitness trainer.

In the pandemic, he ended up on short-time work.

At times he had to live on 140 euros a month.

During this time he was caught on the S-Bahn without a ticket.

He can now continue his training and his income has risen to around 500 euros.

And he is the proud owner of an annual pass for the S-Bahn.
