Every hand is needed in the flood areas in western Germany.

Help is now also coming from the Dachau district.

Dachau - Flood aid for the flood disaster also comes from the district of Dachau: Two helpers from the Dachau water rescue service started for the crisis region in North Rhine-Westphalia on Thursday evening.

The THW Dachau and the district fire brigade association are ready if further help is requested.

Early on Thursday evening, the Bavarian Red Cross received a request for help from the state of North Rhine-Westphalia via the Ministry of the Interior. Two disaster control water rescue trains from Wasserwacht-Bayern were alerted, one from Lower Franconia and one from Upper Bavaria. "The BRK district association Dachau provides a transport and logistics component for this," explains Dennis Behrendt, deputy district manager. Markus Wolf and Andreas Fritsch from the Wasserwacht district group set out on the disaster relief train on Thursday evening. Other district associations are in action with a water rescue group. "Our helpers transport the supplies and make sure that the emergency services who are on the move by boat have all the materials they need."

How long the mission will last is open, says Behrendt. If the assignment lasts longer, the staff will be replaced. Behrendt emphasizes that water rescue is of course still ensured in the Dachau district. "That is an extra capacity that is reserved for such special operations."

The THW Dachau would be ready immediately if a request came, says Sven Langer, chairman of the friends' association. The district fire brigade association will also organize help at short notice if the government asks. “However, we also have an eye on the Bavarian Alpine foothills,” said press spokesman Maximilian Reimoser. The risk of flooding may increase there. "There are currently no signs of this in the Dachau district," said Reimoser. If the fire brigade should set off for the flood regions, "we need a lead time of 24 hours: which units, which vehicles can drive so as not to endanger the basic security here, route planning, intermediate destinations, overnight stays" - that must be organized.

The municipality of Hebertshausen offers the fire brigades in the areas affected by the flood disaster the no longer required LF8 with complete equipment, as Mayor Richard Reischl informed.

“In addition urgently needed materials and equipment.

We are also happy to provide a team to tackle on site immediately. "

And here, too, the following applies: As soon as the help, the vehicle and material is needed, the helpers start heading north.
