Die vier Toten wurden an verschiedenen Orten im Landkreis gefunden. Ungefähr 50 Menschen befänden sich nach wie vor auf Hausdächern und müssten gerettet werden.

9.16 Uhr: CDU-Chef Armin Laschet hat wegen der dramatischen Hochwasserlage in der Eifel seinen geplanten Besuch bei der Klausur der CSU-Landesgruppe in Seeon abgesagt. Das teilte die Staatskanzlei in Düsseldorf am Donnerstag mit. Laschet habe seine Reise durch Süddeutschland abgebrochen und sei noch in der Nacht nach Nordrhein-Westfalen zurückgekehrt.
Am Donnerstagmorgen wollte Laschet die von den Unwettern besonders betroffene Stadt Hagen besuchen, um sich dort mit dem Oberbürgermeister im Krisenstab ein Bild von der Lage vor Ort zu machen. Aus der Staatskanzlei hieß es weiter, der Ministerpräsident wolle sich nach seinem Besuch in Hagen über die Folgen und weiteren Entwicklungen der Unwetter in Nordrhein-Westfalen informieren und mögliche Hilfen des Landes forcieren.
Laschet habe die Absage des Besuchs der CSU-Klausur mit CSU-Landesgruppenchef Alexander Dobrindt und dem CSU-Vorsitzenden Markus Söder abgesprochen. Er habe dies mit der Zusage verbunden, zeitnah im August mit der CSU-Landesgruppe zusammenzukommen, hieß es weiter.

Im Zusammenhang mit den Wetterereignissen kamen im Landkreis mindestens vier Menschen ums Leben, wie die Polizei Koblenz mitteilte. Laut der dpa seien die Opfer an mehreren Orten gefunden worden.
Besonders im Ort Schuld bei Adenau ist die Lage weiterhin dramatisch. Die Zahl der Vermissten ist derweil wohl gestiegen. Laut AFP spricht die Polizei mittlerweile von 50 bis 60 Personen, die alleine dort vermisst sind. Zahlreiche weitere Personen befinden sich außerdem auf ihren Hausdächern und warten auf Rettung. Demnach sind 25 weitere Häuer wohl instabil und drohen einzustürzen.
Unwetter-Drama in der Eifel: Gesamte Region schwer getroffen
Allgemein wurde die Eifel vom Unwetter* schwer getroffen. Im Kreis Bitburg-Prüm sitzen laut Angaben des Eifelkreises im Ort Waxweiler fünf Personen in einem Haus fest, welches komplett von Wassermassen umschlossen ist, berichtet der SWR. Laut einem Sprecher des Eifelkreises sei die Lage dramatisch, das Haus sei mit dem Boot nicht mehr erreichbar. Man warte auf die Luftrettung.
Etliche weitere Vorfälle wurden gemeldet. Etwa wurden zwei Mitarbeiter des Technischen Hilfswerkes in Messerich auf dem Weg zum Einsatz vom Wasser eingeschlossen, warten nun auf dem Dach ihres Autos auf Hilfe.
