Are we going to continue allowing pornography and sexual exploitation to expropriate even our ability to freely enjoy in the company of others?

Sex, clearly, is a great invention: when practiced by lovers, it is the closest thing to a fusion with another human being. When there is no deep affective bond, it is also an exchange of pleasure and an experience of shared enjoyment. Above it does not require gadgets or expensive investments, the desire is enough. It does not pollute, which is not little today. A tumble is more sustainable than a steak.

But for sex to be sex and not something more similar to abuse, all parties involved have to be able to practice it on equal terms. And that, for now, is far from being a reality. We women invented sexual freedom because we realized that the old order relegated us to a marginal role in an activity in which we put our body and soul and in return we would get discomfort, aggression or at least a lot of frustration. Being an object and not a subject is unfair but also tremendously boring. Being available to others has nothing to do with healthy sexuality. We contested the double standards of the whore and the virgin but they got us into the trap we are in now: many men believe that being sexually free means having unlimited access to women's bodies, whether they consent or not, whether or not they have the capacity to decide yes or no. The criminalization of sex outside of the rigid moralistic corsets of marriage had to be ended, but to make relationships more egalitarian, not to invent more ferocious ways to exploit women through sex.

There is no sex without freedom because the other is domination, submission, violence and suffering. That is why the true sexual revolution is yet to come: the day will come when most men know how to relate to their partners without having to mistreat them. Naím Darrechi, the

who did not want to end up abroad, is no exception: he is a tremendously healthy son of the hegemonic sexual culture in which we live, that of the

pornification

of human relationships. Our species is generating an imaginary of extreme brutality and violence whose mildest expression is that of ending up inside without permission. Are we going to continue allowing pornography and sexual exploitation to expropriate even our ability to freely enjoy in the company of others?
