The Unterföhringen fire brigade is getting a new home.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the 24 million building has now been set.
Unterföhring
- A new center for the fire brigade is being built at the southern entrance to Unterföhring.
A friendly brick facade on the outside, lots of new technology and equipment on the inside.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the 24 million building was ceremoniously set on Wednesday.
Many will envy the Unterföhringen fire brigade for this new building.
The three-storey front building facing Münchner Strasse will set a representative placemark.
The building and location were planned long and hard.
The process took almost five years, said Mayor Andreas Kemmelmeyer, who emphasized how important the fire brigade is for the cohesion of a community.
The Unterföhringen fire brigade is “highly committed, well trained and always ready for action”, he praised, and the cooperation is also very trusting.
So it goes without saying "that we as a municipality do everything we can to support you in your important task that you do for us and to make it easier for you."
Fire department center with underground car park, training rooms, workshops and Co.
In October 2019, the local council unanimously commissioned the architecture firm “kplan” with the planning, and the fire brigade has been intensively involved ever since.
In the next two years, a modern fire brigade center will be built with an underground car park, offices, training rooms, workshops, breathing apparatus, fitness room, parlor and a high-quality green roof.
Another important point are the nine company apartments made of wood that are being built on the roof.
"With this offer, the housing shortage for young committed volunteers should come to an end," said commandant Michael Spitzweg.
The Unterföhringen fire brigade could continue to grow in its future building: it currently has 100 members, and there is space for 150 volunteers in the new building.
After the long period of planning, commander Michael Spitzweg is looking forward to the implementation of the project: "I will be monitoring the construction every day." If everything goes according to plan, the new fire station will go into operation in the summer of 2023, just in time for the 150th anniversary Pass the fire brigade.
Initially, the municipality and the fire brigade wanted to modernize and expand the location in the town center in 2014.
But an extension would have taken up so much space that St-Florian-Strasse would have had to be swiveled.
In view of the growing population, the considerations led to the decision to move the location to Münchner Strasse.
