The Holzkirchen train station area is to be re-planned.

That arouses a lot of desires.

The youth want a club to go out.

Now Caritas sees an opportunity.

Holzkirchen

- On the west side of the tracks, near the atrium, something big could happen. In the draft for the over-planning of the station area, the market municipality also noted a family or community center among the compulsory uses. Nothing is concrete yet, but there are many ideas: For example, rooms for conferences, start-ups, childcare, a workshop café or an upcycling workshop are under discussion here. Caritas has also already expressed interest in such an institution, said SPD parliamentary group spokeswoman Elisabeth Dasch recently in the local council.

Petra Schubert, district manager at the Caritas Center Miesbach, confirms this: “The Caritas Center Miesbach would like to be one of several sponsors in a community center,” she explains.

"From our point of view, a community center lives from the variety of different actors and offers and also the opportunity for citizens to participate."

Caritas: "Facilitating community, networking and counseling for people"

Caritas would like to create new forms of offerings in Holzkirchen with its advisory services as well as with an additional income project, an employment project for mentally ill people.

The offer should go beyond individual consultations.

In this way, offers could be created in a community center, "which above all enable people to participate and community, which network people with one another and enable low-threshold advice and support".

The aim is to create the opportunity to bring people with and without a need for support, as well as different actors, into good cooperation across generations.

“That would be living inclusion,” says Schubert.

Caritas is already represented in Holzkirchen, has been running an after-school care center for many years, in which a kindergarten group and lunchtime care were integrated two years ago, as well as a branch of the specialist outpatient clinic for addictions. “We have also been active there for several years in the area of social asylum counseling,” emphasizes Schubert. But: "We would like to develop our offer in the district in a social space-oriented manner and thereby orientate ourselves to the needs of the local people." The process of urban development in the market town shows the needs of the citizens very well. Therefore, tailor-made offers should be developed and coordinated with the municipality. According to Schubert, there is currently no comparable community center in the district. "It would also not be transferable to all locations."

From the point of view of Caritas, the accessibility of the station speaks for a location at the station

The Holzkirchner Bahnhof would be a good location, especially for one of the social projects planned by Caritas: for a bicycle station for storing, repairing and upcycling bicycles, which Schubert had already presented in the town hall.

“From my point of view, the accessibility of a community center for visitors from surrounding communities speaks for this location.” As reported, Dasch in particular would prefer to see a community center in the center because the users are mainly people from Holzkirchen.

Schubert emphasizes that the community must make this decision.

"We are in good and regular exchanges and discussions with the market town."

Mayor Christoph Schmid (CSU) confirms the talks with Caritas, but presses "on the euphoria brake". After all, the planning at the station is still at the very beginning. Only in mid-June did the municipal council approve the proposal for the urban planning competition. "There is still a lot of water flowing down the Isar." A sticking point is that a large part of the land that is being planned belongs to the railway. “That's why I'm dampening expectations.” It is true that it is “a great signal” that Deutsche Bahn is embarking on a realization competition. There is a greater chance that better designs will be submitted because a follow-up order is on the horizon. Normally, the railway would only get involved in ideas competitions. In view of the ownership structure, however, the municipality's room for maneuver is limited.

The youth want a club on the area.
