Baseball is not a popular sport in Hong Kong. Many people in Hong Kong only learn about the history of baseball in Hong Kong through the movie "Five Steps".

Ou Yingliang, the first-generation player of the Shayan team, the first Chinese junior baseball team in Hong Kong, is 45 years old this year. From the time he was a child, he moved from the Tianguang Road to the Sha Tin to practice. Today, he has become the head coach of the Hong Kong women’s team. For more than 30 years, I have never thought of giving up the dream of baseball. The Hong Kong team’s current catcher and captain Tan Haoxian has repeatedly questioned his lack of qualifications. He once planned to give up his career as a professional baseball player, but found that the days without baseball are like losing all the colors... ···

Wang Sicheng, a former journalist, was looking for reference books for her son who was studying baseball, but found that there was no information on the history of baseball in Hong Kong. So she personally invited ten representatives of the baseball industry to interview and write ten flesh-and-blood stories. Many people have been working silently for the baseball industry for many years, and it is worthy of the record."

It’s a pity that the new book "Dream of Baseball" has not been completed yet. The founder of the Sayan team "Principal Mountain Dog" Lu Guanghui passed away last year. Even the veteran actor Liao Qizhi, who played him in "Five Steps", also took place in March this year. Passing away due to illness has become a great regret for "Baseball Picking up Dreams".

The 2016 movie "Five Steps" was adapted from the experience of the Sha Tin Junior Baseball Team, the Shayan team, and recorded a glorious history of Hong Kong baseball in the 1980s.

After 1970s, Ou Yingliang was the first generation player of the Shayan team. In 1983, he defeated the Japanese team in the Hong Kong Little League Open to win the century tournament. Ou Yingliang was also present.

Although he and his brother only watched the game on the court at the time, the team's founder and former headmaster of Jijue Elementary School Lu Guanghui (known as the "Principal Mountain Dog")'s skills in dispatching troops is still vivid.

"Joining the Sayan team is a fate. Back then, my mother helped us play summer activities and stayed at learning softball, but the coach said that we were too meticulous to play. At that time, Sir Lu established a little baseball team in Sha Tin. I suggested that we join in and keep going."

Ou Yingliang was one of the few non-Kijue primary school students in the Sayan team. He and his brother Ou Xueliang traveled from their home in To Kwa Wan to Sha Tin to practice every week, but they never said bitterness. Playing the machine, I can see that the street is already very happy, and playing with children who are not so big in the class, it will feel hard!"

On a hot day, you tell me to go out in the street with shorts and shorts. I will feel comfortable, but I can teach waves in a uniform. I don’t know how to teach 3 or 4 clock faces without changing the contents.

Never give up for more than 30 years

It is mentioned in the book "A Dream of Baseball" that Ou Yingliang trains to wear the exclusive baseball uniform of the Sayan team every week, which is his most exciting moment, because it is a kind of identity.

This identity has been maintained until he is now the head coach of the Hong Kong women's team.

Practicing outdoors in summer, the high temperature of 37 degrees at every turn, although everyone on the court will shout hot, but no one will give up because of fear of hard work, "On a hot day, you tell me to walk on the street with shorts and shorts, I will feel good. It’s hot, but I’m using a uniform to teach waves. I don’t know what to do and I can teach 3 or 4 clock faces without changing the contents."

When asked if he ever thought about giving up baseball in the past 30 years, Ou Sir responded decisively: "No."

For Ou Yingliang, the most important person in life except for his parents is Jian Huaqiang, his mentor. "I can stick to Yijia because of my master."

Jian Huaqiang is the first generation of baseball player in Hong Kong. He had received baseball training at the South China Athletic Association. He belongs to the senior of Principal Lu Guanghui. Au Yingliang described Jian Huaqiang as thin and gentle, without the physique of a typical sportsman. He always persuaded him by reason. Jian Huaqiang once told Ou Yingliang that he was not tall and not suitable for a pitcher. He suggested that he change to an infielder. But at that time, Ou Yingliang "don’t listen to the old man’s words," in order to prove his ability to be a pitcher. The pitcher kept practicing, but the master did not give up on him. Instead, he completed the goal with him. In the end, he changed to an infielder due to injury. Only then did he realize that the master had a good intentions back then. "It turns out that being a coach must be like a dislike, and it's the same. I said that if you have the opportunity, you must teach the children, because it is the future of baseball. I will talk to the players when I get to Yijia. It doesn't matter to you, as long as you don't give up, I won't give up on you."

No matter what you do, it’s okay. Thousands of prayers are easy to give up. There are tens of millions of reasons for you to give up, but you only need one reason to persist.

Giving and reward are not proportional, I have thought about giving up the dream of baseball

The book records the passionate stories of the old, middle-aged and young people in Hong Kong’s baseball industry. Among them, the younger, 29-year-old Hong Kong team’s active catcher and captain Tam Ho-yin said frankly that his baseball road has not been smooth sailing. “First of all, I started to learn baseball very late. The teammates who are two or three years younger than me on the same team have better skills than me, so the first few years have been hard."

Later, he improved his skills. When he joined the Hong Kong team at the age of 16, he found that the effort was not proportional to the return. "Practicing for 5 days a week, he has to take care of returning to work and school. It is really good, plus his physical condition is the same day. It's not the best. Many teammates who are better than me have been selected for a long time ago. I have been wandering around the stage of not being selected, and Chengri asked myself if I should continue to beat."

Constant self-questioning made Tam Ho-hsien give up the dream of baseball. "I tried to practice one day in the net for a week, but slowly I felt that if you don’t play baseball, life seems a bit dazzling." So he sorted out his mood and decided to stick to it. Going on, I also recognized my clear thinking and the advantages of looking at things macroscopically, and became an excellent catcher, and finally became the leader of the team. "No matter what you do, it’s okay. Thousands of prayers are easy to give up. You have to give up several thousand. Ten thousand reasons, but only one reason is needed to persist."

He has also become a baseball coach, hoping to cultivate more baseball talents for Hong Kong.

The story of the death of "Principal Mountain Dog" has not been published in the book as the biggest regret

Wang Sicheng, who was responsible for compiling the experiences of ten representatives of the baseball industry into a book, has a son. When she looked for books about baseball in Hong Kong for her son who was learning to play baseball, she found that this history has never been recorded. "Many people are baseball. Jie has been working silently for many years, and it is worthy of the record."

After working as a reporter for many years, she set out to contact representatives of the local baseball industry, hoping to record these flesh-and-blood stories in the form of exclusive interviews.

However, the most familiar baseball legend and the prototype of the role of Liao Qizhi in "Five Steps" is the founder of the Shayan team "Principal Mountain Dog" Lu Guanghui. Wang Sicheng did not contact him to arrange a visit. Principal Lu passed away last year and became her. It is a big pity that even Liao Qizhi, who played the role of Principal Lu, passed away due to illness, which made her feel that life is impermanent, and she was more convinced that she wanted to record the history of baseball in Hong Kong as soon as possible, so she rushed to work for more than three months and finally rushed to this year's book fair. Previously published.

The fact that Principal Lu passed away last year became a big regret for her, and she later played the role. Principal Lu's Liao Qizhi also died of illness.

The vision of the two generations of baseball players for the Hong Kong baseball world:

I hope to secure an official baseball stadium in Hong Kong where spectators can enter the game. Although Yijiashaicaowan is the base of the Hong Kong team, it is not wholly owned by us. It is necessary to practice in a limited number of sessions, and the rest of the time is required. Share with the football team.

In the long run, I hope that baseball can be popularized. I don’t need to introduce the baseball game in the next interview.

A lot of parents still think that playing football is time-consuming. I hope to use my example to tell everyone that playing baseball in Hong Kong can make a living, and professional athletes can get food.
