The VAG ticket machines are to receive a “facelift”.
Contactless payment should make life easier for passengers.
Nuremberg - contactless payment has a number of advantages: It is fast, secure, clean and saves us having to search for change and enter a PIN number.
VAG Verkehrs-Aktiengesellschaft Nürnberg * is now equipping its stationary ticket machines with contactless card readers, according to a press release.
Thomas Seyfried, Head of Sales at VAG, explains the update as follows: “We want to offer our passengers the highest possible quality.
With the retrofitting of all ticket machines, we are taking a further step towards creating a consistent, high-quality service structure. ”And this is how it works: Up to a purchase value of 25 euros, no PIN is required to purchase tickets.
Hold the giro or credit card very close to the reader; payment takes place after a short time.
In order to be able to use the service, the card needs an NFC chip.
Such cards and the upgraded machines are marked with a corresponding symbol.
Nuremberg: VAG is planning further improvements to ticket machines
And that was not all: In addition to improving IT security, all ticket machines will be optically and technically improved.
The front panels are replaced and the ticket machines are repainted if necessary.
In addition to the contactless payment option, so-called banknote recyclers will be available as a further additional service in all machines in the future.
With it, the ticket machines can not only return coins, but also banknotes.
Only about half of the more than 200 ticket machines operated by VAG have so far had this device.
140 machines are currently already equipped with the new functions, the rest will follow by the end of September 2021.
