The surf wave in Wolfratshausen has been buried many times, but the project is livelier than ever.

There is good news for the surfers - and a schedule.

Despite all prophecies of doom: The surf wave is alive.

Mayor Klaus Heilinglechner (BVW) underlined this in an announcement to the city council, which was published in the meeting of the citizens' representatives on Tuesday in the Loisachhalle.

As reported, the District Office has issued the water law permit for the project planned in Weidach.

Surfers can breathe a sigh of relief: A lawsuit is no longer expected

For town hall chief Heilinglechner this is one of two "good news". The second: “The Wolfratshausen District Fishermen's Association waived a lawsuit against the decision. The aim is to work well with the Surfing Wolfratshausen association. ”According to the current state of affairs, the artificial wave will cost 800,000 euros, with the city contributing a maximum of 400,000 euros - of which 180,000 euros have already been invested in the planning. The surf fans have collected 130,000 euros in donations, and a further 270,000 euros from the Leader program come from the EU - provided the measure is implemented by the end of January 2023. Originally, the construction costs should have been settled with the EU at the end of this year, but according to the mayor, the municipality has now extended the deadline.

The start-up of the surf wave is planned for summer 2022.

In parallel to the planning and implementation process, the surf club is working on the details of the operating concept.

Heilinglechner announced that the current state of affairs will be presented in one of the next city council meetings.
