Theaters in Damascus and the governorates return to hosting special performances for children during the Eid al-Adha holiday through the Childhood Joy event, which the Directorate of Theaters and Music used to organize five years ago.
This event, which this year includes the presentation of 26 shows in theaters and cultural centers in 11 governorates, brought together, as usual, teams affiliated with the National Theater and other private ones, and they will present various shows from the adult and puppet theater.
The Al-Hamra Theater will host, throughout the four days of Eid, a performance of the play “The Star of Dreams”, which was presented for the first time at the Children’s Theater Festival at the beginning of the year, and includes a blend between fairy tales and singing, written by Faten Derki and directed by Suhair Barhoum.
On the other hand, the Al-Qabbani Theater will host the play “The Cat Shahroura”, written and directed by the artist Zuhair Al-Beqai, which in turn was also presented at the Last Child Theater Festival and deals with humanitarian implications in the form of stories about the child’s relationship with animals.
As for the puppet theater, it will be present through the show “The Guardian of the Forest, My Friend,” which will be presented at the Puppet Theatre. It is prepared and directed by Salwa Al-Jabri and presented for the first time in 2010 and deals with the concept of friendship through the relationship between forest animals and humans.
The puppet theater will host, for one day, next Saturday, the show “Luqman Al-Fahman”, prepared and directed by the artist Khoshnaf Zaza, and criticizes the tendency of some people to deceive, which causes them to do evil in their work.
The Theater of the Cultural Center in the square will host two performances by special groups, “Happy and Unaware” and “The Adventures of SpongeBob”, while two performances will be presented through the Dummar Cultural Complex theater, one by Ajyal Troupe and the other entitled “The Planter of Roses.”
Within the event, two performances will be presented at the Jaramana Cultural Center: “Luqman Al-Fahman” and “Al-Batriq”.
As for the rest of the governorates, 16 shows will be presented. At the Culture Palace theater in Homs, four works will be presented: “The Three Wishes”, “The Faithful Guardian”, “The Lost Forest” and “Fahim Al-Fahman”.
In Hama Cultural, four plays will also be presented: “Layla and the Wolf”, “Fella and the Seven Dwarfs”, “Horouf al-Haba” and “The Snow Princess”.
While two shows will be presented within this event at the National Theater of Tartous, “Tales of Jellyfish” and “The Water Guard” and in Dara’a Culture House, “Yesterday’s Sunrise” and “The Adventures of a Watermelon and an Ant.”
In the rest of the provinces, one show will be presented during the days of the feast. In the National Library in Aleppo, the play “The Treasure of Friends” will be presented, in the Al-Assad House for Culture in Lattakia, “The Cat Abu Jazma” will be presented, in the Suwayda Cultural Center, a “Imagination” show, and in the cultural center of Hasaka “The Forest and Winter Snow.” The cultural center of Deir ez-Zor will present the play “The Amazing Carpet”.
