By bike to the wind power site - you can't see the towers in the forest

The participants heard only good things on their bike tour through the Höhenkirchen forest.

The wind turbines could easily be embedded.

Some were, of course, skeptical.

Höhenkirchen-Siegertsbrunn - There could be three wind turbines in the Höhenkirchen Forest in the future, at least that's the planning that is currently being examined by the Wind Energy Working Group in the Höhenkirchen Forest.

After there had already been several online information events on the project, which was not uncontroversial among the population, citizens could now inquire about the project directly on the spot.

Questions about effects

During a bike tour with Mayor Mindy Konwitschny, the 40 or so participants learned more about the planned locations and the possible effects of the wind turbines on the forest.

The starting point of the tour was the Leonhardikirche in Siegertsbrunn.

From there it went to the three locations in the Höhenkirchen Forest, which are located on Theresien Geräum between Ludwigs Geräum and Pframmerner Strasse, within the specified concentration areas for wind power plants.

Encroachment on the landscape

Of course, such systems mean an intervention in the existing landscape. Due to the so-called 10-H rule, locations in the Munich district are usually only possible in the forest. However, Karl Martin Einwanger from the Brunnthal forest district was able to dispel worries about the forest local recreation area. He clearly showed at the locations and other stops how the wind turbines can fit into the forest. The trees are so dense that the towers behind the trunks and the rotors above the treetops can hardly be seen from inside the forest. Einwanger also explained in detail how the forest is already suffering from climate change. Due to drought, storms and the bark beetle feeding, up to 200 hectares of forest area are lost every year. The possible wind turbines, on the other hand, would intervene comparatively little in the forest and also produce CO2-neutral electricity as a replacement for energy that is now generated in climate-damaging coal or gas power plants.

Paths are already wide and firm for transport

Even for the construction of the wind turbines, no massive interventions in the forest are necessary, explained the forest specialist.

Because the paths in the forest are designed for timber transports weighing up to 40 tons and can therefore also be used for the delivery of components.

Questions from the participants also revolved around technical aspects of the wind turbines, from the possible runtime to sensors that can improve the protection of birds.

Hans Gröbmeyer from the Ebersberg Energy Agency answered questions about this.

The talks between proponents of wind power and rather skeptical visitors came to an end with a joint end in the beer garden.
