The Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial will present a new documentary in an open-air premiere on Tuesday, July 20.
Dachau
- The production of the film “The Dachau Concentration Camp” (2021) by Maya Schweizer, Benjamin Meyer-Krahmer and Clemens von Wedemeyer in cooperation with the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial is also the first important step in the long-term “redesign of the concentration camp memorial Dachau ".
The documentary is to be shown permanently in the cinema hall of the main exhibition of the Dachau concentration camp memorial.
The new film conveys the historical development and topographical expansion of the Dachau concentration camp and today's memorial and integrates them into the context of general historical processes, as the concentration camp memorial reports. The addition of excerpts from eyewitness interviews takes particular account of the prisoners' perspective and recognizes them as actors. The central question is "How can we get an idea of what has happened here?"
The documentary will be presented to the public on Tuesday, July 20, at 7 p.m. due to corona as part of an open-air premiere on the former Lagerstraße. Dr. Stefanie Pilzweger-Steiner gives an introduction to the film project, followed by a panel discussion with the film team and Dr. Gabriele Hammermann, director of the concentration camp memorial. Registration to participate is required: https://www.eventbrite.de/e/open-air-filmpremiere-das-zentrationslager-dachau-2021-registrierung-161892421591.
