French health authorities have withdrawn batches of Spanish dry sausages after 45 cases of salmonellosis, the Ministry of Agriculture said on Saturday.
The link with the consumption of fuets (Catalan dry sausages), manufactured by the Spanish establishment Embutidos Caula SL, "
was confirmed on July 15 by the General Directorate of Food, the General Directorate of Health and Public Health France

45 cases of salmonellosis (including 27 involving children), whose strains share the same genetic characteristics, were identified between June 24 and July 15.
The Directorate General for Food, the Directorate General for Health and Public Health France have therefore decided to have a recall in the various brands concerned of all batches of fuets bearing the health mark ES 10.01865 / GE CE.
A history of contamination
Several cases of contaminations linked to dry sausages have been observed in recent years. 18 cases of salmonellosis had been identified in September 2020 in connection with fuets manufactured by another Spanish establishment, resulting in two hospitalizations without seriousness. Another wave of recalls was launched in November 2020 concerning batches of dry sausages and sliced rosettes made near Lyon and marketed by several supermarket chains.
The health authorities recommend that people who still have the products concerned "
not to consume them and to bring them back to the point of sale where they were purchased
".
Foodborne illnesses caused by salmonella result in sudden onset gastrointestinal disturbances (diarrhea, vomiting), often accompanied by fever and headaches which generally occur 6 to 72 hours after consumption of the contaminated products. .

People who have consumed these products and who present these symptoms are invited to consult their doctor, notifying him of this consumption. In the absence of symptoms within seven days after consumption of the products concerned, "
there is no need to worry and consult a doctor,
" said the ministry.
