However, an announcement of stricter measures sparked massive protests.

Paris - Citizens anger against Covid measures: In France, more than a hundred thousand people demonstrated against the tightening of the corona rules announced by President Emmanuel Macron.

According to the Interior Ministry, around 18,000 demonstrated in the capital Paris alone.

Nationwide, almost 114,000 people took to the streets in more than 130 protests.

The reason was announced rule changes: At the beginning of the week, Macron announced stricter hygiene measures in view of an increase in the corona numbers.

In the near future, a test, vaccination or recovery certificate will have to be presented much more frequently.

From Wednesday this will be the case for cinema and theater visits, and from August this will also apply to long-distance trains, restaurants and bars.

A vaccination requirement for health workers was also announced.
