Russia affirmed that the continuation of the stable work of state institutions in Lebanon is a guarantee for the consolidation of its national sovereignty, calling for solving its internal issues through dialogue among the Lebanese themselves to reach a national consensus without external interference.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a comment published today on the ministry’s website, “We call for the Lebanese themselves to solve all the intractable issues on the internal political agenda, within the legal sphere, through a dialogue in which broad national consensus is reached without External interference,” adding that “Moscow considers the stable and effective work of all branches of power and state institutions in Lebanon as a guarantee for the consolidation of national sovereignty and the country’s territorial integrity.”
Zakharova expressed her concern about the economic and social conditions currently prevailing in Lebanon, expressing her hope that, after consultations between Lebanese President Michel Aoun and the Lebanese Parliament, an agreement to nominate a new prime minister in Lebanon will be reached in the near future.
Saad Hariri, who was assigned to form a new government in Lebanon, had apologized the day before yesterday for forming a government.
