Since its liberation from the abomination of terrorism in late 2017, Deir ez-Zor governorate has witnessed the return of most services and the reactivation of work in government institutions and departments, which has contributed to the return of about one million citizens to their cities and villages from which they were displaced as a result of terrorism.

Deputy Head of the Executive Office of Deir ez-Zor Governorate, Kanaan Abdel-Wahab, said in a statement to SANA reporter: “The needs of Deir ez-Zor governorate are great as a result of the systematic sabotage that it has been subjected to at the hands of terrorist organizations and as a result of the increasing and accelerating return of the people to the liberated areas, which was met with great support from the government and continuous work. From the service team in the governorate, it reflected positively and noticeably on the improvement of the service, development and production reality in all areas of the governorate.”

Abdel Wahab pointed out that since the beginning of the liberation, the governorate has worked to secure basic services for the liberated areas, primarily removing rubble, opening streets, rehabilitating sewage, water stations, bakeries and schools, in addition to the rest of the services such as electricity, communications, solar lighting, activating government departments and restoring neighborhoods to commercial markets.

The Director of the Public Establishment for Drinking Water in Deir Ezzor, Engineer Rabie Al-Ali, indicated that the Corporation is working to secure clean and potable drinking water for all areas of the governorate liberated from terrorism, through the main and model water stations, numbering 67 out of 71 stations in the liberated areas. Rehabilitation of two stations that will enter service soon.

Al-Ali indicated that the number of water pumping stations that were put into service increased from one station in 2017 to 33 in 2018, and reached 67 stations at the present time, including 9 stations in the city, all operating on electric power, and 44 stations in the eastern countryside, 28 of which work on electricity. And 16 diesel-powered and 6 stations in the western countryside, 4 of which run on electricity, 2 stations on diesel, and 8 stations in the northern countryside, all of which run on electricity.

The total production capacity of all stations is 17,80 cubic meters per hour, covering the needs of the people in the city’s neighborhoods and the governorate’s countryside liberated from terrorism.

The Director General of the Electricity Company, Eng. Khaled Lutfi, stated that since the return of electricity to the governorate in 2018, most of the governorate’s area has been fed through the rehabilitation and operation of 20 kV stations, which are Al-Tala’a station “8 exits”, the radio station “5 exits” and Al-Taym station “one exit” Al-Mayadin station “4 exits” and Al-Jalaa station “3 exits”, in addition to the installation of 660 transformers of different capacities, in addition to extending networks of medium and low tension, and the delivery of electric current to the northern countryside of the governorate by connecting a line to Al-Hussainiya through Hawija, a cut in the Euphrates River. 7 centers in Deir ez-Zor, al-Mayadin, al-Bukamal and al-Ashara.

Regarding the educational sector, the Director of Education, Jassem Al-Fraih, explained that it is one of the sectors that witnessed a rapid recovery, and the number of opened schools reached 344, including 65 in the city of Deir ez-Zor, 181 in the eastern countryside, 58 in the western countryside and 37 in the northern countryside. There are 22 schools under construction that will enter the educational process in the academic year Next, the number of students reached more than 146,000, and work in educational complexes was reactivated, and all the requirements of the educational process were secured, including classroom seats, books and school supplies.

With the return of the people to their cities and villages, the wheel of agricultural production returned, in both its plant and animal parts, and the Director of Agriculture, Engineer Abdel Hamid Abdel Hamid, stated that the agricultural sector returned to work after receiving a lot of government support by providing all production requirements such as seeds, fertilizers, fuel, irrigation water and the rehabilitation of the three sectors The fifth is for government irrigation and the rehabilitation and installation of 117 agricultural irrigation groups, which increased the area of ​​agricultural land, which this season reached about 30,000 hectares for the wheat season, 4,216 hectares for the cotton season, and 3,372 for the vegetable season.

Work has been reactivated in 44 extension units that provide support to farmers and grants that include drip irrigation networks, in addition to production grants.

Regarding the health sector, the Director of Health, Dr. Bashar Al-Shuaibi, explained that the health situation witnessed a remarkable improvement in the three years that followed the lifting of the siege on the city of Deir Ezzor and the liberation of its countryside from terrorism, as the number of health centers increased from 4 centers in 2018 to 42 centers that are currently working to provide health services. For citizens, besides the hospital complex in Al-Assad Hospital, which includes the General Authority of Al-Assad Hospital, in addition to the Euphrates Hospitals, Pediatrics and Obstetrics. The health sector has been supplied with many needs, including medicines, vaccines, advanced medical devices, surgical vehicles, mobile clinics, and ambulances.

The number of service call centers reached 11, and the number of Syrian trade halls reached 43 halls and outlets spread over the entire area of ​​the governorate. Work is also being done to positively intervene in the markets by offering locally produced vegetables directly from the farmer to the consumer. The number of bakeries reached 62, and work was activated in The Civil Registry Secretariat in Al-Shamitiyeh, Al-Bukamal, Al-Mayadin, Al-Jalaa, Al-Asharah, Al-Tabani, Mohassan, and in the Immigration and Passports branch, and the Citizen Service Center has been opened in the city council.

As a result of the improvement in service and living conditions, the number of people who have returned to their cities and villages since the liberation of the province has reached more than one million citizens.
