Damascus-SANA

Texts of resistance poetry by Syrian and Arab poets attended within the festival held by the Arab Cultural Center in Abu Rummaneh in cooperation with the Arab Writers Union.

The festival, in which poets from Syria, Palestine, and Lebanon participated, was confined to its texts on balanced poetry and on developing a sense of resistance and confronting the Israeli occupation entity.

At the beginning of the festival, the head of the Cultural Center, Rabab Ahmed, spoke about the culture's commitment to the project of resistance, confronting the occupier and protecting society from the challenges of cultural invasion. Then, the child Hassan Rabie presented some songs that mimic childhood.

The Director of Culture Waseem Al-Mobaid gave a speech in which he expressed the identification of resistance literature and poetry, which has a national and patriotic feeling, with the issues of the homeland and the nation, and this is what the festival focused on in its selections for the participants and their texts.

In his poem, which was delivered by the head of the Idlib branch of the Writers Union, poet Muhammad Khaled al-Khidr, the confrontation of terrorism and conspiracies was clear through the evidence and suggestions contained in the balanced poem.

In turn, the Lebanese poet Amal Tanana recited a poem from the simple sea in which the love of the Levant appeared and the extent of its importance and presence in her writings and poetry alongside the poetry of resistance. She said:

“And I would have bled from the wound in my veins

My mother was not healthy, but she was correct, Sham.”

On the other hand, the poem of the poet Zainab Kamel came from Lebanon seeking to liberate the occupied Golan and Shebaa Farms and to defeat the occupation from them. She said:

“Where are the farms and the Golan is their plateau?

Rather, I am dying in the eyes of a Zionist.”

At the same time, the Palestinian poet Mahmoud Hamid delivered texts that varied between the two syllables, in which he defended the existence of Palestine and Jerusalem as its capital.

As for the poet Elissar Omran, she presented a number of well-balanced texts that are characterized by the love of the homeland and the singing of Damascus through various allusions and connotations, in addition to her interest in language, narration and rhyme.

The poem of the poet Fares Daadoush came expressing the poet’s attachment to Jerusalem as a symbol of resistance and the spirit of the nation with spontaneous emotion and sincere feeling through balanced poetry, including:

“We have Jerusalem, in which is our heart.”

The darkness of the meaning is lamps and lights.”

The poem of the poet Azzam Saeed Issa was imbued with challenge and a call to steadfastness through the abundant sea and sincere emotion.

In the Writers Union's speech delivered by a member of its executive office, poet Dr. Jihad Bekfaloni, the poems that were recited were applauded for their insistence on belonging, steadfastness, and citing Arab originality and glories.
