Three days before the rematch for Copa Libertadores between
Atlético Mineiro
and Boca Juniors in Belo Horizonte, on Tuesday 20 at 7.15 pm, the Brazilian club announced that Chilean striker
Eduardo Vargas
is missing the momentous match for having given positive for coronavirus.
Vargas, champion with his Selection of the Copa América 2015 and the Copa América Centenario 2016, is one of the Galo's figures and in the first leg played at La Bombonera he entered as a substitute in the second half.
Although there are no official details in this regard, from Brazilian soil there is uncertainty regarding the possibility of more positive cases, so the new tests that will be carried out on the squad in the coming days will be key.
Eduardo Vargas with covid, this was confirmed by Atlético Mineiro.
The Mineiro plays this Saturday afternoon against Corinthians in São Paulo and the information related to Vargas was released before his loss for this clash for a new date of the Brasileirao.
"Difficult game but we continue forward, we are going to do it at home," Vargas said on Instagram after the complicated (and controversial) first leg played on the Boca court, where VAR was the unfortunate protagonist of the evening.

The news surprised everyone in both Brazil and Chile and has to do with the fact that the footballer already suffered from coronavirus in November. In addition, they highlight that he had already received the two doses of the covid vaccine. Regarding the latter, it is worth clarifying that inoculation does not prevent contagion but rather relieves symptoms.
