Kabul-Sana
Afghanistan announced the recall of its ambassador and diplomats from Pakistan, against the backdrop of the kidnapping of the daughter of the Afghan ambassador, Najib Ali Khel.
Reuters quoted the Afghan Foreign Ministry as saying in a statement that "the government has summoned the ambassador and senior diplomats to Kabul so that the security threats end completely and the perpetrators are arrested and punished."
Silsila Ali Khel, the daughter of the Afghan ambassador to Pakistan, was briefly kidnapped two days ago by unknown assailants and subjected to torture, while the Pakistani authorities confirmed that they were investigating the matter.
As a result, the Afghan Foreign Ministry called on the government of Pakistan to take the necessary and immediate measures to ensure the full security of the embassy and consulate and the immunity of the country's diplomats and their families in accordance with international treaties and obligations. It also urged Islamabad to quickly identify and prosecute the perpetrators of the kidnapping.
