Damascus-SANA

The fictional text of the writer Rana Al-Sahar comes from the heart of reality, so she draws from her observations of her environment and what is going on around her, but in a way that tends to imagination and astonishment, which makes her literature close to magical realism.

“Reality is what I like to write about, and the reason for that is that it touches the soul of the recipient and leaves its impact on him while introducing the element of suspense and imagination,” Al-Sahar said in an interview with SANA.

Al-Sahar feels happy when she hears many people who have been captured by a certain character from her stories because she told them about themselves and here lies in her opinion the true beauty when the reader sees himself soaring inside the story and living all its details until the end.

Al-Sahar prefers that literature mix reality with the spirit of the recipient, so that he finds himself inside the story, even with the use of imagination in the plot if it serves the text, referring in this regard to her story (Dream) from her second collection of stories (Nightmares and Masks) in which the souls converge within the dream within a beautiful harmony and it is a mixture Between tangible reality and tangible imagination.

Al-Sehar asserts that the ideas of her stories do not come from a vacuum, but rather are formed through a socially raised issue, whether it is a direct or indirect personal experience, and the motive of addressing this issue is to present it to the reader in a close way, through which its causes and consequences become clear, and perhaps sometimes the way to solve or avoid it, so every reader feels That it touches him personally and lives within it and among its details, and thus we have provided him with something useful that reached his heart.

Al-Sahar believes that fictional literature is still somewhat marginalized and has not taken its share, such as novel and poetry, hoping that the story will have better luck in the next stage, because it is not inferior to others, especially in light of the crowding, chaos and disparity in the world of poems.

Al-Sahhar, which occupied the war with the contents of many of her stories, says about this: “As Syrian writers, we must address the issue of war, because the writer in general reveals his feelings and during the war everyone’s feelings were agitated to address the people’s pain. Each in his own field, even in cinema and drama.”

And about her experience in writing the very short story, she indicates that this literary genre is a modern type of short literature and is considered smaller than the short story and may not exceed a few lines, and sometimes it may not be more than one line, which is a title and two parts while maintaining the punctuation marks and is based on brevity, condensation and irony. The revelation and the abrupt end.

Al-Sahar hopes that the very short story will take its place among literature, especially with the existence of an association of short literature, which would give this story its space between this beautiful and harmonious diversity.

Al-Sahar concluded her speech by emphasizing that the future belongs to the creative writer in poetry, story and novel, where every creator has his field and free space to choose letters and organize them on his own chord.

Rana Al-Sahar released two groups (Female Al-Dajj) and Nightmares and Masks, and participated in many activities and festivals.
