Xueyou Club: It’s harder for students to predict that the entry barrier for admission to university will be lower than before

Wu Baocheng, a student counselor from Xueyou Club, pointed out that due to factors such as online teaching and test paper adjustments faced by candidates this year, it is more difficult for students to predict their scores than before.

He said: "We need to predict the corresponding plans for different results, for example, consider what way you can choose if you fail to get the third level in Chinese and English, so as not to lose your budget when you put it on the list."

In addition, in response to the decline in the number of candidates and the increase in the number of overseas students, Wu Baocheng predicts that the threshold for admission to local universities will be lower this year.

However, he emphasized that students should not "read for the sake of reading." Choosing a way out must first combine their own interests, abilities and dreams, and should not decide on the way out based on the reputation or popularity of the subject because of sufficient scores.

Wu Baocheng reminded: "Students need to pay attention to the admission procedures of various colleges and universities under the epidemic situation. Some colleges such as VTC only provide online registration. Students should prepare the electronic version of the required documents and master the process."

60% of interviewed candidates worry about their way out. Social workers suggest that parents should "listen first and then publish"

Xueyou Club released the "Diploma Exam Candidate Stress Survey" in April this year. The results showed that among the nearly 2,000 interviewed candidates, more than 60% said that the stress stems from "worries about the future."

Zhou Zhifeng, the leader of the Xueyou Society Student Counseling Center and a registered social worker, suggested that candidates should maintain a normal social and leisure life and adequate rest to avoid being too idle and thinking wildly.

Students should also focus on the things that they can still work hard to change. Going out, doing exercises, watching, listening to music, etc. can all help reduce stress.

She emphasized that both parents and children can share their thoughts and worries with those around them, express pressure, and seek professional help if necessary.

Zhou Zhifeng also reminded that when parents see a gap between the results and expectations, it is not appropriate to pursue their children's previous performance, but to empathize and accept their children's feelings.

She: "Parents should listen first, then publish, understand their needs and feelings from the perspective of their children, and create a negotiated atmosphere. They can also appreciate their children's good work and efforts. Simple One sentence: "I know you have done your best." You can express your understanding."
