As part of the efforts exerted to return the displaced to their towns and cities, purify them from the remnants of terrorists, and work to restore services to them, thousands of displaced Palestinians and Syrians returned to the Yarmouk area in Damascus after ensuring the structural safety of their homes and rehabilitating them from the damage they sustained as a result of terrorist attacks.

The Yarmouk area “Yarmouk camp” was subjected to great destruction as a result of the terrorism of ISIS and “Al-Nusra Front”, which targeted hospitals, schools, government secondary schools, UNRWA schools, in addition to the homes of Palestinian refugees and Syrian citizens who lived side by side in the camp, which was established in 1957 as a symbol of the right of return. .

The Secretary-General of the Palestinian Popular Struggle Front Khaled Abdel Majid, in a statement from inside the camp to a SANA delegate, indicates that after the liberation of the camp and the creation of all conditions for the return of the Palestinian and Syrian families to their homes, measures have begun to take their way in order to protect civilian property and not to touch it, indicating that every family must provide Papers proving ownership of the house so that its restoration can begin, after confirming the result of the structural inspection that it is fit for habitation.

Abdul Majeed points out that about 700 families have so far returned, including hundreds of students, where they are secured with transportation to schools in neighboring neighborhoods, in parallel with granting facilities in terms of infrastructure and service workshops that work to rehabilitate water, electricity and sewage networks as soon as possible, pointing out the importance and necessity of the UNRWA contribution For Palestinian refugees and Palestinian factions to rehabilitate schools and health centers destroyed as a result of terrorism.

Abdul Majeed states that “the terrorists’ destruction of the infrastructure in Yarmouk camp and other Palestinian camps cannot be separated from the international track that is being worked on to liquidate the Palestinian cause by erasing the Palestinian memory represented by the Palestinian camps in Syria,” considering that the return of the people to the camp has great symbolism in In light of the circumstances facing the Palestinian cause and the victory achieved in the battle of the “Sword of Jerusalem”, which is complemented by the return of the people to Yarmouk and their adherence to the right of return to Palestine and the approach of resistance.

Abdul Majeed points out that what the Israeli enemy was unable to achieve during the past decades was sponsored by terrorist organizations that receive military and intelligence support from him, led by the two terrorist organizations Jabhat al-Nusra and ISIS, until this support reached the point of direct intervention and support for these organizations that collapsed in front of the army strikes. Syrian Arab in various regions.

As part of the great efforts exerted to return the displaced people and settle in their homes, the water contractor in the camp, Engineer Abdul Hadi Rajeh, stated that the stage of rehabilitating the network lines has been completed and the start of connecting them to the main water network connected to the Al-Fijah Spring, starting from the Yarmouk entrance to Al-Madras Street towards Safed Street to supply the people who have returned. to their homes with drinking water as the primary factor for their stability.

He shows that work is continuing to rehabilitate the sub-water network lines in the lanes, and work is being done to sequester water from the uninhabited residential blocks until the return of their residents, noting that the workshops will maintain the water network lines in the residential blocks in Ain Ghazal Street and Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Mosque during the next stage.

The governorate of Damascus had earlier completed the rehabilitation of the water pumping station located in Al-Thalatheen Street, with the preparation of 13 pumping wells, the removal of rubble and dust from the main and secondary streets, and the rehabilitation of the sewage network and ensuring its validity.

SANA’s camera toured a number of streets in the Yarmouk area and met with a number of people who are rehabilitating their homes. Hani Omar Hassan from the town of Nazareth says: “We returned to our homes after they were cleared of the terrorists’ remnants and all the requirements of building materials and others were brought in without any obstacles, and we started repair work. What was destroyed by terrorist organizations,” he called on the people to return and rehabilitate their homes in parallel with the intensive efforts of the concerned service bodies to rehabilitate the infrastructure, including sewage, water and electricity networks.

Talib Muhammad Kanaan from Safad district explains his suffering after being displaced for years by terrorist organizations and moving from one house to another, in addition to the high rent of houses, stressing that after Eid al-Adha, he and his family will return to his home after he completed the maintenance of the electricity and health network and the installation of doors and windows that were destroyed and stolen by terrorist organizations. Thanks to the concerned authorities for providing all the facilities for the return of the people to the Yarmouk area.

In turn, Muhammad Qattan from the city of Hebron, who returned to his home in the Yarmouk area, called on the civil society to help the concerned authorities to rehabilitate the infrastructure, especially in light of the unjust economic siege on Syria, pointing out that the Palestinians lived in Yarmouk as one family, and terrorism and its supporters tried to divide the two peoples except They failed to do so.

Hajar al-Omar, a resident of Yarmouk, points out that the procedures for the return of the displaced to the camp are easy, and that she and her brothers are working to restore and maintain their homes and introduce the necessary construction materials, like many neighbors who have returned to their homes.

The area of the Yarmouk area reaches 220 hectares and starts from the Battenha roundabout. Studies and construction disclosures indicate that about 40 percent of its houses are habitable, while 40 percent of them need repair and reinforcement work, and the rest has been completely damaged by terrorists’ crimes and must be removed.
