Lovers wait for the wedding

Many couples have postponed their wedding from last year to this year because of Corona.

After the recent easing, there is now a real rush on the registry offices in Munich, for example.

Things are relatively relaxed in the district at the moment.

Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen

- "In Bad Tölz we had weddings all the time last year," says Birte Otterbach, the city's press spokeswoman. “In spite of the Corona, mostly no couples jumped off with us.” Nevertheless, the calendar for this year is already very well filled. "We currently have no more free appointments until the end of October, the situation is a little more relaxed from November." Compared to 2019, when there were 218 weddings in the registry office district of Bad Tölz with the affiliated communities, there were only slightly fewer in 2020 with 208 weddings . In 2021 there have been 97 weddings so far (as of July 7th), although according to Otterbach there are still over 20 weddings in July for the remaining days.

"With us, many couples from last year switched to this," says Nicole Lutterer, the manager of the registry office in Kochel.

"Nevertheless, the inquiries are limited, everything is in the normal range."

This is confirmed by Elisabeth Kell, registrar at the registry office in Lenggries.

“It's no different from the other years.

We're not experiencing a boom because many locals still kept their appointments during the pandemic. ”In Lenggries there is a Saturday wedding date every month.

"It is in great demand, but overall we are not fully booked."

Wolfratshausen registrar Petra Konrad notices "that a few from last year will be added, but there are not much more".

As in all years, they have 100 to 120 weddings per year, that was also the case last year.

"But we hear from other registry offices that it is difficult and we also get some inquiries from Munich."

Fewer bookings in the inns

Unlike the registry offices, it looks like the inns for the subsequent celebration.

There is more reluctance there.

"We don't have as many bookings as we did before Corona," says Josef Lautenbacher, owner of the Holzwirt inn in Ascholding.

“Big weddings with 180 people don't work, and nobody wants to celebrate reduced weddings.

That's why it's rather quiet at the moment. ”According to Lautenbacher, some celebrations are planned for autumn.

It is currently “mixed” at the Posthotel Hofherr in Königsdorf, as host Lydia Hofherr reports. “People would like to celebrate again, but not so big, preferring to have fewer people.” According to Hofherr, there will be a double wedding season next year. "We already have a lot of registrations."

And in the Kurhaus in Bad Tölz? “There aren't many weddings. We do the ones we are allowed to do, ”says host Pablo Landauer. "But weddings with 40 to 50 guests are not our main weddings." A celebration is simply not worthwhile for most, as the restrictions currently only allow celebrations with 50 guests, at which the staff must be counted. “The season is over for us,” said Landauer. He explains that most guests cancel their celebration completely because they don't want to unload half of the time - or because family planning has already progressed. “The demand would be there, we would be booked out for over a year, but our house is empty because you are not allowed to celebrate. This is a bitter time. "

The situation is anything but easy for bridal fashion stores either.

Ewa Materak, owner of the fashion studio in Bad Tölz, knows: “People are afraid of the next lockdown.

You are unsure whether your wedding can actually take place.

That spoils the mood, that's why they don't like to spend money. ”Her daughter Sabina Materak adds:“ The right wedding season, which usually ran from April to October, no longer exists.

We are preparing for the season to end earlier due to Corona. "

There have been a few weddings now, but most couples have rescheduled their dates again

Christl Müller, owner of the festival fashion store Wolfratshausen

Most of the white dresses that hang in the Festmodenhaus Wolfratshausen have been waiting for a bride for a long time.

There can be no talk of a run on Christl Müller's business.

"There have been a few weddings, but most couples have rescheduled their dates again," she says.

The few brides who will dare this summer would have found their dream dress months ago.

The trader has a little hope of a golden autumn with many weddings.

“Maybe then a couple of brides will shop with us,” says Müller.

Their optimism - provided the pandemic subsides - is greater for the coming year.

"Then hopefully there will be more celebrations again" - and her white robes will find an owner who will spend the most beautiful day of her life in them.
