- "The stability was endangered because of rot," reported Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller (CSU) on the dismantling of the old cross in the finance committee.

The fact that the crucifix erected in 1974 by the Schliersee-Miesbach beaters' association now appeared on the agenda was due to a grant application submitted by the association's board.

The application said the new cross will cost 2300 euros.

The money goes, among other things, to the oak wood for the cross, the plumbing work on the copper roof and the restoration of the Jesus figure.

In order to give the committee members a feeling for an appropriate amount of subsidy, Braunmiller recalled a comparable decision from 2018. At that time, the community foundation was supported in the renovation of the Mariengrotto on the monastery grounds, which was badly damaged by a storm.

Braunmiller recalled that I assumed 25 percent of the costs at the time.

He now suggested the same for the beaters' cross.

So a grant of 600 euros.

Michael Lechner (FWG) that was too much, especially since the club is not necessarily present in social life, for example in youth work in the district town.

The other members of the finance committee were not bothered by it.

The earmarked grant of 600 euros was resolved against Lechner's vote.

Braunmiller emphasized that the cross itself, with its small alpine garden, has a significant meaning for Miesbach.

"This is a very popular place."
