Some witnesses affirmed that Serra entered the sea around 7

o'clock despite the fact that the municipal authorities had decreed that area with a red flag

due to a strong swell.

Something that usually does not scare the most experienced surfers.

After losing control of a wave with a height of just over two meters and its shocking fall, rescue and relief services managed to approach the shore, but the resuscitation maneuvers were unsuccessful.

24 hours after his tragic accident, the surfing community of Spain cries for the loss of Oscar Serra with emotional messages on social networks.

"The last wave of this rider this morning. On the battlefield. RIP brother. Strength for the family", posted on his Instagram slope, user Javi Postigo, a friend of the Spaniard, whom he defined Serra as " the best Valencian surfer in giant waves ".

"Thank you my life, thank you for letting me be your 'mommy' for loving me so much, for every call telling me that you were completely happy. You left happy, doing what you liked the most in this life. How hard is this going to be without you, darling . Your 'mommy' loves you eternally ", was the farewell that Ainara Aymat, a surfer and very close to Serra, chose through social networks.

A dangerous beach

Zicatela beach is one of those chosen by surfers for the rigor imposed by its waves

.

That is why it was not surprising that athletes of the stature of Serra, like so many others of importance in the field of surfing, meet there.

In any case, and according to the newspaper

El Universal

, it is a highly dangerous beach since so far this year and with the death of the Spanish surfer, there are already nine people who have lost their lives in the coastal region of Oaxaca.
