Jordanian King Abdullah and United States President Joe Biden are scheduled to attend the White House tonight (Monday).
Prior to the meeting, Biden congratulated the leader of the Hashemite Kingdom and said that the United States would continue to support Jordan.
"We will continue to strengthen cooperation with Jordan," the president said.
"The United States is always here for Jordan," he added.
The Jordanian king's visit to the United States comes after four years of troubled relations with the Trump administration.
During his 22 years in office, King Abdullah was perceived by American presidents as a moderate and credible ally in the Middle East, often serving as the unofficial envoy of the Arab world in Washington.

This special relationship ended during the tenure of former President Donald Trump, who preferred to get closer to Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states instead.
For example, King Abdullah was not involved in formulating the Trump administration's peace plan for the Middle East, which in its original version included an Israeli annexation of the Jordan Valley.
